WITNESS at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC)

Tony Waller visits the MTC for a technology transfer day

Yesterday I visited again the grand building of the Manufacturing Technology Centre near Coventry. A testament to the high level of government investment the building houses a lively group of minds working to drive innovation in UK industry. As a member of the MTC we at Lanner are proud to help with our predictive simulation.

Yesterday was a technology transfer day to enable members of the Manufacturing Simulation team to apply WITNESS simulation to a high standard. Pictured below is myself with MTC team members Lina Huertas, Aditya Narang and David Esparza. It was refreshing and exciting to be asked questions above and beyond the ordinary – the team has a depth of experience in simulation and this will surely be beneficial in helping UK industry to improve their use of this under-utilised technology.

One project area that I think will be extremely useful is to establish the detail of what simulation models can/should be built at different stages of manufacturing planning and operation – and the value that can be obtained from the different levels of data. All in all this was a very satisfying day spent in the modern, well lit rooms of the MTC – illuminating us all!
