The United States’ second-oldest private engineering school joins Lanner’s academic partnership to empower students with the latest advanced analytics technology.

The Lanner Academic Partnership, one of the longest-running learning initiatives in the simulation software industry, announced today the addition of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University to its technology education program.

NYU-Poly joins more than 100 universities worldwide in Lanner’s academic program, which celebrates its 27th year in 2013 and offers access to its WITNESS simulation platform, comprehensive product support, mentoring, and training materials to those teaching simulation.

WITNESS simulation software was incorporated for the first time into engineering courses taught at NYU-Poly's Department of Technology Management and Innovation in September 2012. Use of the simulation software will feature in real-world projects undertaken by students on internship with firms later this year.

Simulation technology has extensive capabilities for validating system designs and optimizing manufacturing and logistical processes, equipping students with sought after skills and experience as part of their engineering education.

Says Professor Michael Greenstein, Director of the Manufacturing and Engineering Masters Programs in NYU-Poly's Department of Technology Management and Innovation,"Our Factory Simulation Course is a core requirement for NYU-Poly's Industrial Engineering masters degree program, and WITNESS gives these students vital experience with professional simulation software in order to engineer their required real-world projects,"

"In a prior industrial position, I had been favorably impressed by the capabilities of WITNESS and I am pleased that my students can now use this same powerful tool to deliver professional results."

Lanner’s director of business development (Americas), Mandy Tague says

"Lanner has been partnering with academic establishments renowned in the field of engineering for over a quarter of a century.
“The partnership program is designed to facilitate research into simulation based advanced analytics, supporting educational establishments with best practice learned from real world examples and develop opportunities for employment of students within the WITNESS customer community.

"We are pleased to be working with the Polytechnic Institute of New York University providing WITNESS software to future simulation architects and business process managers."
