Lanner today announced that Apple Inc., manufacturers of the iPhone, iPod and other iconic consumer technology products, has invested in WITNESS from Lanner, at its Cupertino headquarters.

The licence and maintenance agreement will put WITNESS at the heart of simulating and optimising business processes within Apple. WITNESS will enable Apple to represent real world processes in a dynamic animated computer model and then experiment with alternative 'what-if ?' scenarios to optimise production across its business.

David Jones, CEO, Lanner said:
“Technology leaders - even those as far ahead as Apple - know they are not unassailable, so they keep innovating products and processes that push the envelope.

“In a recent IDC Manufacturing Insights survey, nearly 80% of the High Tech respondents said that the key to sustained growth is through product innovation. That necessitates a culture of risk-taking to deliver constant innovation. Simulation helps to support process innovation and mitigate the risks involved with being a true market leader.

“We are extremely pleased to count Apple as a global brand which uses Lanner’s technology to drive innovation within its business. It is a great validation of the technology and shows that for those businesses determined to dominate a market, the insight and confidence that simulation can deliver is critical.”
