WITNESS Modelling Tip - Adjusting shifts for multiple elements
With WITNESS you can change the shift assigned to an element at any time using the AdjustShift command. This effects a temporary change until the end of the specified work or rest period when the shift expression for the element is re-evaluated. (for a permanent change Setshift can be used).
The reasons for reassigning shifts in this way are many and varied. Some reasons include the need to reassign the shifts of whole areas of a facility or process - for example the need to work overtime based on current work queues.
In the linked modelling tip below we show how a single function call can adjust the shifts for all elements within a chosen module and we provide a WITNESS mdl (module) file that you can import into any model to do the same.
