One of my roles at Lanner is to coordinate our partnerships with the Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Process Analysis (BPA) vendors with which we collaborate. Part of this entails following and meeting with the analysts that work this space from the likes of Gartner & Forrester.Gartner have a system of ‘magic quadrants’ which they use to rank vendors, our partners tend to be in the top right leadership quadrant. Gartner also rank simulation as one of the top ten technologies you need in a Business Process Management Suite. Not surprisingly they also ‘blog’, take a look at this example.http://blogs.gartner.com/jim_sinur/2010/02/10/simulation-and-bpm-a-growing-engagement/I will continue to blog about the use of simulation in the BPM field, it is a very interesting area as it is inhabited with people who are relatively new to using simulation compared to many industrial engineers and OR professionals. It also has specific demands given the need to integrate tools into a suite.
