How to move windows when you cannot see the title bar.

Sometimes you may find that the title bar of your windows cannot be seen so that you cannot move that window. If you usually use twin screens to work on a model, and then open the model on a single screen, you may also find that part, or the entire WITNESS window is not visible.

Here are some solutions to use when you find yourself in this situation:

1. The window can be moved using some standard functionality of windows applications. You can use the keyboard to reposition the window. Make the required application window active (eg using Alt-tab), and then press Alt and spacebar together to reveal the window menu. Now select M to Move. The cursor keys or mouse can then be used to position the window until you can see the potion of the Witness window you require. Press Enter when finished. You can now use the usual maximise button to fill the current window.
2. A second way to do this is to use inbuilt windows functionality. If you press the CTRL SHIFT and R keys simultaneously this will restore all windows to their default positions. These may then be repositioned as desired. It is still possible that although the main window is still visible, the dialogs/forms are still opening outside the screen.
3. The ultimate method to restore Witness, and all its dialogs back inside the screen is to remove the regitry entries which control them. To do this you will need to be able to run the Regedit program in windows. WARNING: IF YOU ARE UNSURE HOW TO USER REGEDIT, REQUEST HELP FROM YOUR IT SUPPORT.

          a. Close all open applications

          b. Got to Start Menu/Run and Open Regedit. Find and delete the following 2 register keys

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LannerGroup\Witness\Dialogs
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LannerGroup\Witness\Application

          c. Witness will generate new defaults next time it is used.
